TM10 - Get WELL Soon

Monday, November 6 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Abstract Text:

With an increased focus on happier, healthier, more productive built environments, attendees will tour three spaces that have implemented the WELL Building Standard, the first certification scheme focused on improving human health and wellness as a compliment to LEED certification. Spaces included in the tour are Teknion’s Boston Showroom at 255 State Street and Arup and Tsoi/Kobus’s new office fit outs at 60 State Street; leading companies in sustainable design in furniture, engineering and architecture. All spaces are both WELL and LEED certified (v2009 and v4) and will speak to the synergies and challenges of achieving multiple certifications.  Each firm’s core values were the primary drivers for developing project goals that focused on human and environmental WELL being. Not only will tour participants learn design strategies for implementing biophilic design, energy efficient circadian lighting, active work spaces, and transparency in material selection, but also increased density and variety of formal and informal spaces.  Combined, these elements demonstrate how a truly integrated design process, including landlord and staff engagement, is critical to the success of sustainable design.
