Abstract Text:

This 7-hour course is designed for individuals seeking the TRUE Advisor professional certificate. It will provide individuals with an overview of the TRUE Zero Waste certification process and rating system. The course will provide an introduction to the definition of zero waste and describe zero waste policies, strategies and programs. It will also provide a detailed explanation of the categories and credits in the TRUE Zero Waste Rating System, including examples from TRUE Zero Waste certified projects that demonstrate how to achieve credits. Lastly, it will expose individuals to the calculations and processes required for completing TRUE Zero Waste certification, including how to how to: gather and track baseline information, perform a zero waste audit, calculate diversion, and right-size waste containers. Note: Individuals pursuing the TRUE Advisor certificate will be required to take an online assessment following the training. "The TRUE Advisor certificate demonstrates that an individual possesses basic knowledge of zero waste terminology, tools and strategies, and can assist in the TRUE Zero Waste certification process."

Describe the concept of Zero Waste and related tools, strategies and methodologies.

Describe the TRUE Zero Waste certification process, including the minimum requirements and the categories and credits in the TRUE Zero Waste Rating System.

Identify the role that a TRUE Advisor plays in the TRUE Zero Waste certification process.

Identify best practices, tools for tracking and reporting and available resources to help the TRUE Advisor get started.
