Abstract Text:
All projects have the ability to advance market transformation by verifying that their buildings are performing as intended and reducing carbon emissions and resource use throughout the building life cycle. USGBC’s LEED Recertification and LEED Zero programs were designed to recognize such leaders in the market and work to inspire leadership towards a net zero future. A year after their launch at Greenbuild 2018, this session will dive into the impact that LEED Recertification and LEED Zero have had to date and discuss key updates in LEED v4.1 that provide the foundation for project teams to pursue Recertification and LEED Zero.
Speakers will share project case studies that illustrate the value of LEED Recertification and LEED Zero, explore market advancements in net zero buildings, and discuss programmatic improvements and future anticipated development. This session will serve to highlight the successes of LEED Recertification and Zero program since its launch, raise awareness & drive program participation, and link the programs to global and national initiatives to address climate change.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the intent and value proposition for maintaining a LEED certification up to date via Recertification.
Identify the process, requirements and timeline for pursuing LEED Recertification.
Describe LEED Zero program goals and requirements for achieving certification.
Articulate how LEED v4.1 BD+C and O+M credit requirements provide a foundation for teams to pursue net zero goals during building operations.
