Abstract Text:

Note: This session is part of the New Technologies and Paradigms track within CAHS. You are encouraged to select the other sessions within this track, though it is not required. This presentation will discuss: 1. A community solar installation sponsored by the Denver Housing Authority; 2. A unique model for providing comprehensive energy efficiency, water conservation and renewable energy improvements to existing affordable housing; and 3. Job-training and related community-building services. The audience will be encouraged to participate through questions and comments during and after the formal presentations.

Learning Objectives:

Demonstrate how to develop a 2MW solar garden to benefit low-income residents, and how community solar can accelerate clean energy solutions.

Recognize solar opportunities in a diverse financial landscape, and how to best leverage energy performance and cost data during negotiations with investors and solar development partners.

Understand how to reframe energy and water efficiency investments to pay for more expensive green building solutions, including renewable energy.

Describe how solar investments can lead to equitable development and job training opportunity for low-income residents and communities.
