TS03 - Downtown Working WELL

Saturday, November 17 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM | Tour Meet Desk « Back

Abstract Text:

With an increased focus on health and wellbeing in green building, attendees will tour commercial offices that have implemented the WELL Building Standard, the first certification focused on occupant health and well-being. WELL is meant to complement LEED and all three tour sites pursued WELL while also achieving LEED certification. Important topics will include interaction with GBCI on two different platforms, as well as navigating requirements for two different third-party rating systems that might apply differently to the same building systems. Hyatt’s Headquarters is LEED Platinum-certified and pursuing WELL Silver certification. The team will focus on their integrated approach and the performance based WELL system in addition to WELL’s impact on their full service café. Chicago’s Living Lab Studio, located within the historical and renovated National building of Chicago’s central business district as of late-2017, is an expression of HKS responsible design. Naming the Chicago office a ‘Living Lab Studio’ is intentional alignment to the organic and scientific process of exploring, observing, and testing design concepts. Leopardo’s new office is pursuing both LEED v4 and WELL. The tour will focus on identifying synergies between the two rating systems and defining for the audience the fundamental differences between the two. Attendees will be required to wear personal protective equipment while on the tour.
