Tuesday, November 13 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM | 176C « Back

Abstract Text:

TRUE Certification will not only reduce our waste streams, but reduce wasted time, wasted dollars spent cleaning up our communities and most importantly wasted business opportunities. Tenants, customers, vendors and employees want and need their businesses to participate in the closed-loop zero waste economy. This session will do a deep dive into the key components of the TRUE Zero Waste Rating System. With a focus on Total Resource Use and Efficiency, the rating system drives efficiency in our operations making our facilities more profitable. Owners and operators of LEED buildings, or those pursuing LEED, will discover new solutions to design for zero waste, increase their diversion and create employee engagement. We will review how determining the profitability of source separating commodities, closed loop systems and product design will drive purchasing decisions that eliminate waste. This session will look specifically at the power of employee engagement in developing and implementing your zero waste practices and policies. A crosswalk between TRUE and LEED, along with other GBCI certifications, will be reviewed. Participants will leave with an implementable plan for their journey to TRUE Zero Waste Certification.
