Abstract Text:

This tour will showcase sites that include a range of green infrastructure strategies such as permeable pavements, rain gardens, runnels and bioswales that will accept stormwater from surrounding streets and alleys. Passive gardens, active recreation areas and public plazas are the result of a rigorous community engagement process.

Learning Objectives:

Identify how green infrastructure projects are developed from planning through implementation phases.

Assess the benefits associated with stormwater landscapes.

Explore agency coordination and challenges to achieve long-term results and project replication.

Compare a range of green infrastructure strategies that can be seen at different sites across Chicago’s West Side
