E03 - Continuous Simulation Models in the LEED and SITES Rainwater Management Credits

Thursday, November 15 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM | 184 « Back

Abstract Text:

Explore the Rainwater Management Credit in the LEED v4 Rating System, and the Water Prerequisites and Credits within the SITES v2 Rating System. Attendees will learn about the evolution of stormwater management, and how these credits have evolved over the lifetime of the LEED and SITES Rating Systems. The session will explain the methodology for both compliance options (Option 1: Percentile of rainfall events, and Option 2: Natural land cover conditions) within the LEED v4 Rating System, and the water credits within the SITES v2 Rating System. A discussion of the EPA SWMM Model will enlighten attendees to this available resource that can optimize the stormwater design on a site. Finally, various green infrastructure practices that can be implemented into your project design to meet the credit requirements will be explained and visually demonstrated.

Learning Objectives:

Calculate the percentile storm events used in the LEED v4 BD+C: Rainwater Management Credit Option 1: Percentile Storm Events, and in the SITES v2 Rating System Prerequisite Manage Precipitation on Site and Credit Manage precipitation beyond baseline

Develop the natural land cover conditions of a project site used in the LEED v4 BD+C Rainwater Management Credit Option 2 Natural Land Cover Conditions

Maximize the points achievable on the LEED v4 BD+C Rainwater Management Credit, and SITES v2 Credit Manage Precipitation beyond Baseline, and optimize on-site green infrastructure practices.

Identify various green infrastructure practices that can be tailored to fit your project location’s unique hydrology and site constraints
