WB02 - Inside Water Performance & Quality in LEED v4.1 and Beyond

Tuesday, November 13 from 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM | 187 « Back

Abstract Text:

Building on lessons learned from LEED v4, the LEED v4.1 rating systems require teams to adopt a holistic approach to water management and consider water use throughout the building life cycle. How do LEED v4.1 water requirements connect to accelerating water scarcity and compromised quality? What successful strategies are available to projects pursuing LEED v4.1 certification? Join USGBC and LEED Water Efficiency Technical Advisory Group (TAG) members as they discuss the water efficiency prerequisites and credits in LEED v4.1, and present resources, strategies and tips. Speakers will share project and life cycle assessment (LCA) case studies to explore connections between water and energy, and the connection between water efficiency and water quality. Speakers will answer frequently asked project team questions around water efficiency, quality, and metering. Presenters will discuss the LEED credit development process, including how the rating system responds to market forces, and encourages market adoption of best practices. they will review potential future technical developments around water systems design, construction, and operations. This session will connect LEED v4.1 water requirements to market trends and emerging technologies, key design choices, facility management decisions and water management best practices on all stages of the building life cycle.

Learning Objectives:

Discuss updates made to water efficiency requirements in LEED v4.1 rating systems.

Describe how LEED v4.1 rating systems address water efficiency, quality and management throughout the building life cycle, and design choices or facility management decisions that can benefit projects pursuing certification.

Understand how LEED v4.1 water efficiency credits are implemented by reviewing project case studies; identify opportunities and challenges associated with specific credit strategies.

Articulate how USGBC and LEED Committees address current and future water issues, solutions and strategies through current credits in LEED v4 and the credit development process.
