Belal Abboushi, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture at Marywood University. His research examines daylighting performance with a focus on occupant’s comfort and satisfaction. Belal joined the High-Performance Environments Lab at the University of Oregon in 2014 where he was involved in several daylighting studies in large-scale office buildings. In his dissertation, he conducted a series of interdisciplinary studies (Psychology and Architecture) that investigated the perceptual response and visual comfort under natural fractal sunlight patterns. He is a member of the IES office lighting committee, and recently received the Richard Kelly grant for his interdisciplinary work. Belal has presented at several conferences including the IES annual conference 2018, IES symposim on light and health, Greenbuild 2017, and the ARCC-EAAE international conference.
