JAMES R. MOYER Associate Vice President, Grand Valley State University CAREER BRIEF as of January 2017: More than forty (40) years of program and project management in the facility development field. Currently the Associate Vice President for Facilities and member of the University president’s cabinet at Grand Valley State University. Since 1996, have managed a 4+ million square feet expansion of the University. This work has included more than 1.7 million square feet of LEED certified structures with additional LEED compliant space under construction. LEED certified projects range from certified to platinum ratings. Completed projects also included one of the initial S.I.T.E.S. projects. This commitment to a sustainable community has supported a significant reduction of energy usage by the University. Prior positions have included Assistant Vice President and Director of Facilities Planning at Grand Valley State University; Director of Facilities Planning for Arlington County, Virginia; project manager for Federal (US DOJ/JC, DOI, and DOJ/INS) government facilities programs; environmental planner on the North East Corridor Rail Improvement Project at Skidmore, Owings, Merrill; sub-division administrator for Laramie County, Colorado, and the director of a non-profit community organization in Washington D.C. Bachelor of Architecture, 1971 Howard University, Washington, D.C.; Licensed by examination, December 1977, Washington D. C.; Have held membership in the American Institute of Architects, U.S. Green Building Council, National Organization of Minority Architects, Association of Physical Plant Administrators, and more. Prior and current non-profit board/trustee experience includes West Grand Neighbor Organization, West Michigan Environmental Action Committee, Porter Hills Retirement Communities and Services, Porter Hills Foundation, and the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. Have served on various committees within these organizations. Have served in officer positions with the listed boards including serving as Board Chairperson for Porter Hills Retirement Communities.
