Dr. Kath Williams has a diverse background in sustainability and high performance building standards. She was responsible for the recent development of the Montana legislative-mandated “State of Montana’s High Performance Building Standard for New Construction” and the “HPBS for Operations and Maintenance of Existing Buildings.” Drawing on her experiences as Assistant to the Vice President of Research at Montana State University, Kath was introduced to green building as Executive Director of MSU’s EPIcenter project. Her volunteer services during that time including being Vice Chair of the U.S. Green Building Council for six years and she was elected President of World Green Building Council for three terms. Since founding Kath Williams + Associates in Bozeman, Montana in 1999, Kath has worked on over 97 high performance building projects around the world including 23 international projects. She is particularly proud to support Xanterra Parks and Resorts on hotels, visitors centers, and employee housing in four national parks.Kath leads the USGBC-Montana LEEDv4 Schools pilot project in Gardiner, Montana. Honored to be serve as the first Fulbright Senior Specialist in Sustainability, Kath personally supported the development of green building councils in USA, Montana, India, Australia, Mexico, Taiwan, UAE, Brazil, Guatemala and Nigeria. In October 2011, she was presented one of four Chairman’s Award by the World Green Building Council for her leadership with green building councils around the world. She was the first inductee into the India Green Building Council Hall of Fame. Kath earned an Ed.D. in Adult Education, an MA as a Kiplinger Public Affairs Reporting Fellow and BS in Journalism. Kath proudly serves on the Board of Trustees for the Museum of the Rockies, Bozeman, Montana and was recently elected vice president. Kath Williams + Associates is a certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE).
