Emily is leading the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute's new Built Positive movement. She has over 15 years of experience developing and implementing sustainability programs and reframing complex environmental issues into opportunities to change the way we do things. Emily has a passion for connecting with and mobilizing people. A consistent theme in her professional endeavors has been helping industry leaders navigate regulations and/or voluntary programs that require the use of materials and practices that are better for the environment. Most recently as Director of US Green Building Council (USGBC) National Capital Region Chapter, Emily was responsible for bringing best practices and insight from local market leaders into USGBC. She delivered value to stakeholders across the built environment sector, from the architecture, engineering and construction community to trade associations, nonprofit organizations and government agencies, by creating high impact education, networking and service opportunities that engaged and fostered a local community of like-minded professionals. Experience prior to USGBC includes directing a sustainable cities campaign at the Alliance to Save Energy; managing green building initiatives for the National Association of Home Builders; and facilitating industry partnerships for the ENERGY STAR program.
