A lifelong learning proponent, Daniel has long been a sought-after Green Building expert. Daniel received degrees in Mechanical Engineering, from Niagara College; Bachelors in Architecture, Masters of Architecture and Masters of Urban Planning from SUNY at Buffalo. Daniel holds a dozen professional designations/accreditations beyond his professional degrees including: LEED AP O+M as well as LEED AP BD+C from GBCI and was elevated to LEED Fellow in 2017, PMP from Project Management Institute, Living Future Accredited from ILFI, GGA, GGP and GPCP from GBI, WELL AP from IWBI in addition to ASHRAE Commissioning Process Management Professional. As Founding Principal of Humann Building Solutions a registered Professional Engineering firm since 1998, Daniel leads restorative development work on diverse specialty purpose facility projects to design and construct buildings and infrastructure for improved sustainability, efficiency and operability. His global project expertise includes offices, resort and hospitality buildings, government facilities, museums, cultural, education facilities and sustainable improvements to historical restorations and landmarks. Daniel’s professional expertise has contributed to numerous domestic and international High-Performance Building, Sustainable and Restorative Development projects as well as international events including Greenbuild, WaterBuild, Living Future unConference, WaterSmart Innovations, Advanced Energy Conference, Energy Management Congress, CAPAC and Global Gaming Expo to name a few. As a recognized thought leader in the sustainability sector, Daniel has served as a Technical Subject Matter Expert to the U.S. DOI since 2009, the U.S. DOD since 2016 and U.S. DOE's Building Envelope Technology Research Team. Daniel has been active in Green Building for over 20 years, including current contributions to USGBC’s LEED Technical Committee contributing to the development of the LEED version 4.1 Standards, Chairperson of the LEED Water Efficiency Technical Advisory Group; USGBC Waterbuild 2016, 2017 and 2018 Summit presenter and program team member, NFRC Vice Chair, Director, Governance Chair and Executive Committee member.
