As Senior Vice President of Credentialing and Certification at Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), the premier organization for independently recognizing excellence in sustainability performance and practice globally, under her leadership, GBCI administers credentials and certifications for the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification, the world’s most widely used green building rating system, as well as the PEER standard for power systems, the WELL building standard, the Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES), Parksmart for parking facilities, EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies), TRUE, Investor Confidence Project (ICP) for energy efficiency retrofits and the GRESB benchmark, used by institutional investors to improve the sustainability performance of the global property sector. Under Sarah’s leadership, GBCI has developed an internal center for technical excellence and she led the recruitment, training and development of a dynamic team of global technical experts, including industry leaders in architecture, engineering, urban planning and sustainable design. She oversees a staff of over 80 technical experts that supports projects in over 165 countries. Her team has issued 10 times the number of LEED certifications than were issued in the nine years prior to GBCI’s involvement. Prior to joining the organization, Sarah worked in an architectural practice with a focus on low-income housing in Washington, D.C. Sarah holds Bachelor of Science degrees (Honors) in both Geology and Architecture.
